HBCU Cookout 2025

HBCU Cookout 2025 brings summer vibes

The actress and producer has officially announced that the third annual Sai Summer Cookout will be held on August 31, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Designed to uplift and connect students from historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), the HBCU Cookout 2025 promises good food, music, culture, and Black excellence.

From Family Tradition to Cultural Movement

Martin, known for her breakout role on Black-ish, says her family’s love of hosting inspired the Cookout. “We love to entertain. We love to host family gatherings,” she shared. That same energy now fuels a growing summer tradition aimed at inspiring Gen Z through creativity, unity, and education.

Bringing the Cookout to Houston

After successful events in Atlanta (2023) and Washington, D.C. (2024), Martin is heading to her home state. “I’m from Dallas… but this time we’ll be going to Houston and give love to TSU, Prairie View, and all the other colleges that are in the area,” she said.

What to Expect This Year

Martin describes the event as “a mix of a pep rally and a family reunion.” Expect to see:

  • Black-owned business vendors
  • Free gifts and school prep resources
  • Live music and entertainment
  • Brand-sponsored activations from names like Walmart, SheaMoisture, and PrettyLittleThing

More Than a Cookout

Sai Summer Cookout isn’t just a party—it’s a purpose-driven event. Martin uses it as a platform to empower Black voices and bring students together. “My No. 1 question is always—who needs this project in their life?” she says.

In addition to this year’s event, Marsai is staying booked and busy, with her action film G20 premiering on Prime Video April 10.
