Illinois State Alert Issued After Firearm Discharged Near Bone Student Center at ISU.

Campus police responded quickly, and the alert stated that there was “one reported victim.” The condition of the victim was not immediately released.

Shooting Near Bone Student Center

The incident occurred near the Bone Student Center on West Locust Street in Normal, Illinois. Illinois State Alert Issued Urging Students to Stay Away from Bone Student Center After Firearm Discharge.

Police described the suspect as a “slender Black male, 5’10”, with a black afro hairstyle, wearing all black.” He was last seen running south from University and College Streets.

Manhunt Underway for Armed Suspect

Authorities confirmed that a manhunt is ongoing. The public was warned that the suspect “may be armed and dangerous” and that there is the “potential of an immediate threat.”

Despite the shooting, ISU did not issue a shelter-in-place order for the campus. Bone Student Center remains closed while officers continue clearing the area.

Officials Urge Public Caution

The university is asking anyone with information about the suspect to contact ISU Police at ISUPolice@ilstu.edu.

Police continue to secure the scene as the investigation remains active.
